ABSTRACT

This system consists of three parts: an inlet module (Figure 1), a gas cylinder module (Figure 2), and an exhaust module (Figure 3). The modules are assembled via ball joint unions. The electrically actuated solenoid valves are energized by a 110 V AC line. Wherever possible, components are type 304 or 316 stainless steel. Typical pressure ratings are 9000 pounds per square inch gauge, 62 MPa for the plumbing components, 12 MPa for the sample cylinder, and 1 MPa for the polyethylene tubing. Thus, operating the sampling system at a pressure of 690 kPa (100 psig) provides a margin of safety relative to the standard rated operating pressures of the components.
