Polycropping is the concurrent use of multiple crops that are beneficial to each other, with
the output of each crop becoming the input of another, creating a balance in the soil and
environment (Geno and Geno, 2001). Although Geno (1976) considered polycropping as
a term referring to mixed farming, Kass (1978) proposed it as the best term to distinguish
all multiple-cropping situations from single cropping, i.e., monoculture, denoting an area
that is being used for more than one crop at a time.
