ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION Right ventricular failure is a clinical syndrome that often represents a difficult diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. It should not be considered a freestanding diagnosis, but should lead the clinician to search for clues to the underlying disease substrate. Most often occurring in the context of left heart failure, it is a harbinger of adverse prognosis. Signs and symptoms of right heart failure are listed in Table 1.
