ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines the general principles of managing cardiac emergencies for children 8 years or older and adult patients. It is deliberately not an exhaustive review. Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in developed nations and is frequently associated with ventricular fibrillation (VF) at some point in its time course.
