ABSTRACT
The primary purpose of Chapter 2 is to obtain an appreciation for the general composition of the TCP/IP protocol suite. To accomplish this task, we will first examine the International Standards Organization (ISO) Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Reference Model. Once this is accomplished, we will examine the Internet Protocol (IP), which represents a network layer protocol. This will be followed by moving up the protocol stack and examining operations at the transport layer.
