ABSTRACT
Chemical manipulation of antibodies is often required. Modifications may be for introduction of reporter molecules (fluorescent, spectrophotometric, spin-label, or radioactive) into a protein or labeling to facilitate an isolation procedure. Some specific examples include the attachment of biotin or other ligands (e.g., avidin and streptavidin), labeling with fluorochromes, and conjugation of enzymes or other proteins.
