ABSTRACT
Compression or distortion of the superficial peroneal nerve can occur where the nerve abandons the muscular layer of the leg and pierces the crural fascia at the level between the middle and distal third of the leg. The syndrome of the superficial peroneal nerve was first described in 1945 by Henry
under the term “mononeuralgia in the superficial peroneal nerve” and is also known as “superficial peroneal nerve entrapment.”
