ABSTRACT
Direct effects are exemplified by intrinsic cellular changes involving the neph-
ron or the muscles of the bladder or the prostate. Indirect effects may be secondary to cardiovascular, endocrine, or metabolic alterations occurring with aging that have vital repercussions on urine formation and excretion.
