ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the architecture and the hardware characteristics of the TMS320 family of digital signal processors (DSPs). The TMS320 family includes several generations of programmable processors with several devices in each generation. Since the programmable processors are split between fixed-and floating-point devices, both categories are examined in some detail. The TMS320C25 serves here as a simple example for the fixed-point processor family, while the TMS320C30 is used for the floating-point family.
