ABSTRACT

After completion of the low-rate initial production (LRIP) phase of the program, it will be time to ramp up for full-rate production. The full-rate production ramp-up process starts during the LRIP phase. As the subassemblies are built and they are found to meet all the requirements, the program should be releasing purchase orders for components, housings, and other base materials to support full-rate production. All long-lead items should have been purchased by this time and be in the process of being received, stocked, and kitted. By the time the final unit assembly has started and the first units are bought off through quality and test, the parts and subcontract orders should be in place to start full-rate production.
