ABSTRACT

Sue, a line assembler, opens a bag of washers and drops one, and it rolls away. She stops what she is doing and looks for the washer for x minutes. Then she walks to the stockroom and fills out a materials request. The stockroom attendant then looks up the location of the washer in the stockroom, walks to the location of the washer, gets the bag of washers out, counts out one washer, and puts it in an envelope and marks it. He then returns the bag to the shelves, walks back to Sue, and gives her the envelope. Sue walks back to her workstation and restarts her work. The stockroom attendant is inputting the use of the washer into the inventory control system. All this for a washer that costs less than a penny!
