ABSTRACT

We now begin to discuss the parts of the analytical strategy designated “carry out the analytical method” and “work the data” (refer again to the analytical strategy flow chart given in Figure 1.1). As stated in Chapter 1, there is a wide variety of analytical methods, but they can all be classified in one of three categories: wet chemical methods, physical methods, and instrumental methods. We will systematically discuss each of these throughout the book. We will present a modified analytical strategy flow chart at the beginning of each discussion, with the parts designated “carry out the analytical method” and “work the data” highlighted.
