ABSTRACT

Every organization has good things about the environment, and there are always issues. The good things include a dedicated staff, enough staff, adequate budget, adequate tools, and support from the management team. All of these good items also can fall on the issue side of not enough staff, no budget, no tools, and sometimes little support from the management team. As a security professional, you continue to grow as a leader through the development of an effective policy architecture. This last chapter reveals tips to building longevity into the security policy architecture and finding assistance outside the enterprise environment. These techniques can be applied in any sized organization. Security professionals adapt to their situation and know there is no silver bullet to developing and implementing a security policy architecture. There are good times and rough times for the security professional, and sometimes, the security professional needs to take advantage of the small wins and personal growth over being the security professional to continually get recognized or the security professional who is constantly written up in articles.
