ABSTRACT
This chapter is about design and the information ow from design to manufacturing. Design covers a broad spectrum ranging from architecture design, industrial design, software design, fashion design to engineering design, civil design, and aerospace design. Although they all share some common elements such as the design philosophies, the design methods, the design techniques, and the design tools, the nature of the end output differs a lot. We will concentrate on engineering design only in this chapter.
