ABSTRACT
Abundant in tropical regions of the globe, the genus Vanilla has challenged morphologists. Although the molecular approach provides a glimpse of the phylogenetic structure of the group, the clear de nition of species is fraught with dif culties. This chapter opens the “Vanilla File” and lists some technical aspects that hinder the study of the only orchid cultivated for food.
