Description: Arabic or acacia gum is the dried exudate obtained from the stems and branches of Acacia senegal (L.) Willd. or of related species of Acacia. Injured trees exude gum Arabic; heat, poor nutrition and drought stimulate its production. Most of the gum Arabic production is from wild trees, but some from privately owned and cultivated gardens are tapped and collected on a systematic basis.
