ABSTRACT
In humid subtropical areas underprivileged and sometimes immunocompromised children may develop a severe skin infection caused by streptococcus (Strep. pyogenes) which has sometimes been called impetigo but is better known as ecthyma. The lesion is erosive or ulcera - tive and may be followed by acute glome rulo nephritis.
