ABSTRACT

Transplant professionals traditionally define optimal living kidney donors as those who are younger than 65 years of age, with a creatinine clearance (CrCl) 80mL/min (standardized for a body surface area of 1.73m2) and normal body habitus (body mass index (BMI) <30kg/m2), glucose tolerance, blood pressure and urinalysis.1 In reality, however, highly motivated potential donor candidates do not always fulfil all of these requirements.
