ABSTRACT

Data fusion has an extensive range of applications in aeronautics, space systems, and robotics. It also has applications in monitoring the health or condition of systems [10], where fusion can be used to improve the observations made about a system or environment for event detection. This section considers various aspects that contribute to the development of intelligent monitoring and fusion systems-systems capable of making decisions about the existence of precursors to events through the acquisition and combination of data about an environment or system.
