ABSTRACT

The definition of spatial analysis varies across academic fields and even among individual researchers. In its widest sense it is the analysis of space itself and that of phenomena observed in space. Spatial analysis in a narrower sense consists of (1) data collection, (2) data management and manipulation, (3) analysis, and (4) modeling/ planning. The third step gives the narrowest definition of spatial analysis. Following the second definition, this section briefly looks at each step of spatial analysis.
