Electric power networks consist of transmission systems and distribution systems. ¥e transmission systemconsistsofhigh-voltagepowerlinesandarelativelysmallnumberoflargesubstations.Itdelivers energytoterminalstationswheretransformersstepthevoltagedownandfeedenergyintothedistributionnetwork.Distributionnetworksincludelargenumbersofsmallersubstationsandtransformersthat furtherconvertthepowertomainsvoltagesandreticulatethistodomesticandcommercialconsumers. Largegenerationstationsconnectdirectlytothetransmissionsystemandsmallergenerationstations can connect to the transmission or distribution networks.
