ABSTRACT
THE FIELD OF METABOLIC ENGINEERING has advanced over time and will undoubtedly continue to do so, based on a solid scientic foundation and continued research and innovation. Of critical importance is a solid understanding of the metabolism of the cell which will ultimately be manipulated through various techniques to produce a desired end product, or alternatively, remove or breakdown an undesirable one.
