ABSTRACT

One of the greatest scientifi c discoveries is that electricity, magnetism, and light are aspects of the same physics. Prior to the mid-1800s, these phenomena were thought to be unrelated. With the leading experimental studies of Michael Faraday and the theoretical ingenuity of James Clerk Maxwell, scientists learned that these phenomena are all connected to electric charges and their movement. This is an important example of one of the main goals of science-to bring a large number of phenomena under one roof of understanding.
