ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the physics behind and implementation of Compton imagers for medical diagnostics. Beginning with a brief introduction of traditional nuclear medicine technologies, this chapter develops the physics framework for Compton scatter kinematics, introduces various methods of image reconstruction, presents several practical implementations of Compton imagers, and nally discusses opportunities for future development.
