ABSTRACT
Over the last 50 years, it has become clear that sunlight may interact with chemicals to adversely affect human health. Though writings from the ancient civilizations of India and Egypt clearly describe contact photo sensitization due to 8-methoxypsoralen in plants, it was not until this century that the phenomena has become well understood, or the causative agent identified.
