ABSTRACT
The need to use cell culture models on a first-tier level of chemical testing is critical in view of the overwhelming number of untested or inadequately characterized chemicals being released into our environment. This is especially serious with neurotoxicants in view of their potential to damage central nervous system. This reasoning is shared by all concerned toxicologists, whether our thinking is driven by ethical, financial, or political reasons or their combination.
