ABSTRACT

Pulling the ingredients for success from the many people we interviewed was tedious work. We asked hundreds of people, for example, what the plan of action was for continuous improvement in their area and how did it relate to top management strategy? Out of such questions over the many weeks came the policies, plans, programs, and actions represented by the 10 ingredients of each recipe in the self-assessment. Many of the ingredients are common across other companies, but all of them are present in all three companies researched for this book. We found that all of the associates across the three companies participated in activating the ingredients in their continuous improvement stream. Now, let’s move to the self-assessment section so you can answer the question: Now, what do I do and where do I go from here?
