ABSTRACT

The most efficient and effective way of not only presenting but also of integrating information about a number of factors that must be considered in city planning and engineering is through maps. Maps serve at least two important purposes in city planning:

1. To provide a graphic representation of the planning area 2. To relate pertinent planning data to geographic location

The maps must, however, be designed and prepared specifically for planning and engineering applications. The design and proper preparation of such maps require proficiency in surveying and mapping.
