ABSTRACT

Some of the more popular inhalants include or have included glue, coolants, paint thinner, nail polish remover, petroleum fuels such as gasoline, transmission fluid, and many aerosolized substances such as hair spray, room deodorizers, deodorants, insecticides, glass chillers, and vegetable oil frying-pan lubricants (12,13). Typewriter correction fluid now appears to be a popular item of abuse by inhalation. The volatile nitrites (“pop pers”) and nitrous oxide are also popular. The use of mul tiple agents is the rule rather than the exception (14).
