ABSTRACT

Toxicology is that branch of pharmacology that deals with the undesirable effect of chemicals in biologic sys tems. In addition, toxicology involves the analysis, both qualitative and quantitative, of these agents in biologic materials as well as the development of procedures for the treatment of the poisoning (1). Medical toxicology is concerned with the clinical manifestations, differential diagnoses, and treatment regimen of the accidental or deliberate acute overdose or chronic poisoning. It also encompasses the acute and chronic exposure to toxins in the workplace, as well as exposure to environmental toxins.
