ABSTRACT
Dr. Lanny Johnson, inventor of the arthroscopic shaver, stated in a talk at the 2008 Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) national meeting, “The foundation of business is innovation, and its foundation in medicine is clinical observation.” Where does observation for medical device take place? The most important place is in the hospital or surgery center operating room, seeing actual procedures. Another is in the wet lab (animal and cadaver, and bench).
