Most people that even know what medical illustration is think that it is only for marketing and textbooks. Medical illustration, however, can be an important way to conceptualize and communicate medical device design ideas. Medical illustration is a highly developed specialty that has been an important adjunct to the understanding of anatomy and biological systems, as well as a way to conceptualize and visualize the interaction of medical devices with anatomy and pathology.
