ABSTRACT

Managed care is usually delivered through health care organizations of various shapes and structures that, on the surface, appear very similar. The truth is that they are very different, although most resemble a blended entity capable of providing care and the insurance component to protect the enrollee from nancial exposure for claims arising from incurred, covered expenses. It’s no surprise to the intended audience of this book that most Americans have little to no understanding of what kind of coverage they have, and don’t think of taking the time to understand the nature of their coverage until they have to use it.
