ABSTRACT

Idiomatic Challenges of Terminology, Culture, and History e term “wellness” is used dierently in languages throughout the world. Wellness and good health have historically been seen as freedom from “dis-ease.” If one weren’t ill or not at ease, then one was considered “healthy.” We now know from published research that this frame of reference is changing. Although few will argue that absence of “ill-ness” and “dis-ease” is a primary component of being healthy, it doesn’t, however, indicate anything about one’s state of “well-being.”
