ABSTRACT
Chapter 7 continues using the BASICS system implementation model and looks at the “A,” which stands for assess and analyze. It focuses on the different levels of waste that exist and how to assess the different levels including:
1. Obvious wastes 2. Five S type wastes 3. The eight wastes 4. Four or Žve wastes 5. Tribal waste 6. Hidden and unseen waste
It discusses that waste can easily become hidden or invisible over time. Sometimes we have to eliminate some waste in order to Žnd other waste hiding below it. The large waste of overproduction and the importance of “just in time” process ow to help expose the waste.
