ABSTRACT
Because Lean started in manufacturing and is being adapted to healthcare, this chapter begins with several manufacturing examples. It is only in this environment that Lean principles can be truly understood in their purest form. All of the lessons that have been learned readily apply to Lean in healthcare and examples are provided. Discussions related to “big company disease” are also included.
