As discussed in the editor’s Introduction, double-di§usive žowsintheoceanwouldbeclassiŸedasŸnescale(1-100m)to microscaleorKolmogorovscale(1mm)inthattheyrelyspeciŸcallyontheprocessofmoleculardi§usion.Yetthemixing thattheyachieve,particularlywhentheyoccurfarfromother sourcesofturbulentmixing,maybehavingprofounde§ectson theglobalthermohalineormeridionaloverturncirculation(the MOC). ›e following is presented from this viewpoint.
