ABSTRACT

The SixSigma-R-Us (SSRU) representative, William Sellya, confirmed Mark Moore’s initial thinking regarding Six Sigma. William related several stories about successes SSRU had obtained working with EG, Moneywell, 4N, and other Fortune 50 clients. The quality function always seemed to play second fiddle to the manufacturing and engineering functions; was a chance to be in the driver’s seat for awhile. The SSRU representative emphasized their ultimate objective was to transfer not only the skills, but the ability to grow and maintain a Six Sigma culture to TryinHard Marine. Several conversations later, the deal was done. In the first phase of the project, SSRU would train one class of Black Belts, three classes of Green Belts, and provide coaching support for the first year.
