ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we will focus our attention on some useful techniques in the ˜eld of pharmacokinetics. Pharmacokinetics is the study of the processes that affect drug distribution and the rate of change of drug concentrations within various regions of the body. These processes are also collectively referred to as ADMET for drug adsorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity. Although pharmacokinetics is of utmost importance in the treatment of diseases using drugs, our major focus in the remainder of this book will be on using this technique as a tool for understanding the transport processes in drug delivery systems and between an arti˜cial device and the body.
