However, a¤er the endoscopy component was excluded from GS, we found that the GS OR cancellation rate was 11 percent (31 cancellations of 291 total cases; Table 12.1). Ÿe endoscopy OR cancellation rate was 22 percent (53 cancellations of 237 total cases). Because endoscopy was already being evaluated through the chief of sta¡ oœce for process improvement, we decided it would be redundant for the Lean OR cancellation workgroup to focus on endoscopy. A¤er factoring out endoscopy from GS, we reevaluated the data to see which surgical area had the greatest cancellation impact factor (highest cancellations and patient volume).
