A wiki is a website that can be edited by its readers without the need to access the back-end content management system. e basic concept is that a webpage is served with a clearly marked ‘edit this page’ button that gives the reader access to a simple text editing facility. is idea, of a collection of webpages that can be edited by many dierent people, has meant that wikis have become very popular as online publishing tools to facilitate collaboration. ere are two main uses of a wiki: those that are used in closed workgroups (say within the connes of a company’s intranet*) and ‘open’ wikis, which anyone on the Web can edit.
