ABSTRACT
Although there are several publications on cell culture processes and their optimization using spectroscopic tools in the context of process analytical technology (PAT), they do not address underlining details that affect the implementation of these systems at an industrial scale. This chapter discusses the intrinsic challenges of using near-infrared (NIR) as a PAT tool in fermentation cell culture processes.
