ABSTRACT

Biofuels are defined as renewable fuels derived from biological feedstocks (biomass), and they include liquids such as bioethanol or biodiesel and gaseous fuels such as biogas (e.g., methane) or hydrogen (Koh and Ghazoul 2008). In this chapter, the focus will be on liquid biofuels for transport because that sector is a major consumer of petroleum-based fuels (Demirbas 2007).
