ABSTRACT
Cancer is probably as old as life, but remains a widespread and devastating disease. Generations of scientists and physicians have dedicated their life to improve patient care and eradicate it. They have contributed to monumental accomplishments in the fight against cancer. Cancer nevertheless remains the second-leading cause of death and disability in the world, behind only heart disease. Further progress is urgently needed to beat it.
