ABSTRACT

Increasingly more and older adults are confronted with mobile devices. Although applications should be accessible to everyone, a gap between those, who are "computer-literate" and those who are not (predominantly older users) is emerging. An age-sensitive display design is needed, which allows users of all ages and ability levels to interact with mobile technology. The paper addresses factors to be considered for age-sensitive mobile device design and identifies usability problems that are ageexclusive (causing interaction difficulties only for older users) or age-specific (problems that cause serious interaction difficulties preferably for older people).
