ABSTRACT

The present work deals with the parametrization of a haptic gear shifting indication as well as with the determination of the potential for fuel consumption reduction of this discrete indication at the gaspedal. With this kind of gear shifting indication the driver is getting told whenever he should change to gear upwards or downwards. The work is subdivided into two steps. In the first step the most intuitive and most liked haptical gear shifting indication is selected in a preliminary test from 8 possible indications. In the second step, this selected variant is evaluated in the main experiment concerning its potential for fuel consumption reduction in detail in a naturalistic driving study.
