ABSTRACT
In 2008, the estimated global trade of perishable foods necessitating refrigeration was $477 billion [1]. Most of the food volumes traded are mobilized via maritime and road transport, but high-value foods are also air freighted to ensure expedite arrival to their destinations. Most of these shipments are transported via maritime transport, but high-value frozen foods are being increasingly shipped by air.
