Note: In the short term, a population may change many darwins, but in the long-term its average change
may be only a fraction of a darwin (Weiner 1994, 110-111). A population of Darwin’s Finches quickly changed by 25,000 darwins after a major drought. syn. Haldane’s evolutionary unit (Lincoln et al. 1985) cf. macarthur [after the British evolutionist Charles R. Darwin, 1809-1882]
