ABSTRACT
Chapter 4 provided an introduction to the Web Ontology Language OWL, and Chapter 14 dealt with inference in OWL. In the body of the book, we have mainly used the Manchester or Turtle syntax for RDF and OWL, but readers are likely to encounter other serializations of OWL ontologies, including especially RDF/XML and OWL/XML serializations. As mentioned in Chapter 4, there are many ways of serializing OWL. For most purposes, the Manchester syntax is the easiest to understand and is the best suited for human consumption. Most OWL 2 files are not written in Manchester syntax, but rather in RDF/XML or OWL/XML format.
