ABSTRACT

The majority of research investigating the impact of nutrient timing has focused on metabolic changes and adaptations associated with various types of exercise. On considering the potential impact for nutrient timing in sporting scenarios, interest has developed to explore how nutrient timing may have an impact on other specialized groups or populations. In this respect, available research suggests that nutrient timing strategies may exert a positive effect in aged (>50 y) populations and their current or future battle with sarcopenia. In addition, nutrient availability and timing have become an area of special interest for military personnel, metabolically challenged, and athletic children.
